TEACHING

I believe that the true role of a music teacher is to uplift and encourage students to express themselves and tell their own stories while helping them develop the necessary skills to do so. Music is the universal language, and learning how to speak it can unlock wondrous tools of communication that have a profound power to impact and connect people. Thus, we teach and develop musical literacy with the goal of fostering meaningful musical experiences. So many incredible mentors and teachers in my life have shown belief in me and given me opportunities to explore, grow, and shine, and here I am, an artist and also a teacher. My goal is to pass that light on.

I currently work as the building substitute at Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, while also working with their contemporary a cappella group, Free Verse, as a mentor and arranger. This fall, I will join the Carnegie Mellon School of Music Prep School, where I will be an Adjunct Instructor teaching Music History and Solfege to elementary and high school students. I have also begun working as a freelance clinician, recently being a featured educator at the 2023 Boston Sings A Cappella Festival, where my arranging partner William Torres Jr. and I taught our masterclass, Collaborative Arranging: From Suggestion to Stage.

I am passionate about working with ensembles to help bring their visions to life and boost them on their way to finding their potential. Specifically in the vocal music space, I can provide guidance and coaching on arranging, competition sets, concert prep, vocal percussion, and more. If you are interested in a workshop with me or would like to see a teaching resume/portfolio, please contact me here. I would love to work with you!
